Why Eucalyptus??
With Winter on the Horizon, my go to essential oil is my trustworthy friend Eucalyptus.
Eucalyptus is a plant that can be found in Australia. One strain of Eucalyptus is Eucalyptus Globulus and this is usually the one we are familiar with. The essential oil is known for it’s painkilling, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, bactericidal and probably best known for it’s benefits to all types of Respiratory conditions.
How to use eucalyptus?
I burn a few drops with water in my diffuser…….. in my Bedroom, the Yoga Studio, the Healing Room, my classroom at school, pretty much everywhere! It’s great for all ages. Just be sure it doesn’t have any contraindications based on your own needs (always be cautious of essential oils if pregnant or breastfeeding). I begin to burn it October time and keep it going all through Winter right through to the New Year. It’s a fresh soothing smell, that gives me a warm, cozy feeling. Much like getting a hug 😊
For Skin Application I’ll pop a few drops into a carrier oil of choice………….often coconut or almond oil and apply to chest, throat and even soles of the feet at the first sign of a cold or flu. Sometimes I’ll dab the back of my hand with the mixed blend for sneaky fresh sniffs during the daytime! A few drops into the bath can work wonders too.
Brands I love are Ogam Oils and Atlantic Aromatic, I find them both a good quality Oil.
A nice blend with Eucalyptus for an evening relaxation blend is mixing 2-3 drops of both Lavender and Eucalyptus with a chosen carrier oil. Also another fresh blend is to blend with lemon. Just make sure you always check for contraindications for your own safety.
Have I now convinced you on the benefits of Eucalyptus? I’ll say this…………I’m yet to meet a Koala with a cold or flu!
